Unplug!

It's a blustery, cool day here in my part of Southern Cali and I'm aching for the warm weather to come back. Just when I buy a cute sun dress the temps dip and the wind gets chilly. :(

But that's okay, it's really not summer yet, but it will be soon and I can't wait to rock this pretty, printed beauty.

It's been quite a busy weekend with shadowing my rep and going to a training session today. Tomorrow I have a photo shoot with a friend and Monday I have a local team meeting for my business.

I got my kit ordered and am excited to kick start my direct sales business. I pray I will be successful and that it will be as fun as they say it is! I just gotta get over my fear of the telephone. I'm gonna need it and it's gonna be this biggest part of my business.

Tuesday my term paper is due (eek) and I've got to get started on it. I'm hoping with beginning this business it will help and force me to better manage my time. I'm a serial procrastinator and I'd like to cure myself of this problem and spend more time doing positive things for myself, than lollygagging around and feeling bored with life. As the saying goes, "You're not bored! You're just boring!"

I need to make myself and my life less boring. If I would just disconnect my computer from my hip, I'd be doing a lot more interesting things. Technology for me has become more of a curse than a blessing, but that's my own fault.

One of the things I plan to do to help myself with this problem is to put my laptop away at night, rather than having it sitting out in arms reach first thing in the morning. Out of sight, out of mind... hopefully. haha

Do you feel like a slave to technology? Have you had to find ways to make yourself disconnect? Any tips and tricks would be helpful, besides what I already plan to do. Comments are most appreciated.

Fashion Friday

This week, during a discussion post about the Met Ball people started posting photos of what they would wear. There were a lot of beautiful photos, and so it inspired me to post some of my favorite fashion photos as well as a few favorites from the post. Enjoy!

This dress blows my mind!

I love the breathtaking sensuousness of this. I could imagine Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn wearing this on The Tudors.

Fashion/Beauty Friday

The decision of what to feature today was made easy by the gorgeous Kate Middleton, now Duchess of Cambridge.

To be honest, I'd grown irritated by the insane amount of coverage on the impending nuptials of William and Kate, but last night I found myself riveted to the TV, waiting anxiously to get a glimpse of her and the obsessively talked about reveal of her wedding dress.

I was quite overjoyed with what I saw. I love that she went the "Grace Kelly" route and she wore the dress with such beauty and grace. She truly looked like a Princess and I love that she wore her hair half up/half down. The neckline, bodice and lace is breathtaking and my heart fluttered a little at the beauty of her skirt. More lace and the way the train was layered made me wish I could have the dress for myself. I was not all that surprised when I heard that she was going to do her own makeup, she is a very normal, down to earth girl and I think she did a lovely job.

I saw a story that a company was waiting with baited breath for a glimpse of the dress (McQueen) and that they'd begin making replicas. I'm sure even the replicas will be incredibly expensive, so no chance I'll ever get my hands on one.

The ceremony was beautiful, if a bit long in the tooth and I wasn't able to keep my eyes open long enough to see "The Kiss", but of course... there's no way I'd be able to miss it, even if I wanted to.

Congrats to the happily married couple! I hope we will see them happy and be able to live out the normal life they wish to lead.

Next up will be baby bump watch. Hahaha! No... I'm just kidding. Well... not really.

The Beauty Department

I'm very excited by Lauren Conrad's new beauty website. It features great and easy to follow tutorials and talks about current fashion trends. I absolutely love the web design for her page as well. I will be following this blog very closely.

Happy Fall

I apologize for my absence, things have been quite hectic lately.

A couple positive things have happened though and I have a lot to be grateful for.

On Wednesday, after nine months of dying to have something done with my hair I was finally able to afford to go in and have my hair tended to. After some of the disastrous hair shows (for my hair at least) that I've been through, my hair has become pretty unmanageable. Tangled and curly/wavy, less than a blow dry and a curling iron, my hair looks like hell. A big frizz ball. Think Mia Thermopolis (Princess Diaries) pre princessification. But now it's pretty smooth and sleek, thanks to a Brazilian Blowout. I got a great deal on it, had my hair dyed and trimmed and decided it was time to test out bangs. I absolutely love what I see when I look in the mirror now and it's made my morning readying time so much quicker. And I don't have to blow-dry my hair when I get out of the shower now. I can just run a brush through it and let it do it's own thing. Though I'll admit, it will look a bit sleeker if I run a hot iron over it.

I don't have a good before shot of my hair, but here it is after my salon appointment...

G and I also had a nice lunch in Downtown Claremont this week and had a wonderful brunch in Downtown Upland yesterday. We fall more and more in love with our new home everyday and all the wonderful amenities the location offers. I don't miss LA in the least and am happy to be putting down roots here.

After my lovely morning and afternoon with G, I decided to go spend the evening with my parents and sister. We had a fun dinner at Chili's, did some shopping at Barnes and Noble and a bit of shopping at the local outdoor mall. Let's just say I was very spoiled and got a wonderful early Christmas gift.

At B&N I got 2 large novels...

Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly

Dracula in Love by Karen Essex

Next we went to Anthropologie and my parents bought me this wonderful bag...

Autumn Garden Bag

Quite expensive, an early Christmas gift, and so incredibly beautiful. And it has TONS of storage. I'll be able to fit pretty much everything in this bag. So many different compartments (2 small on the sides, two large and then the large zippered middle with compartments in there too. Makeup bag, wallet, camera, on the go snacks, and my journal will fit easily in here. I will be using this bag for years to come and will always hold it dear. Thank you so much Mom and Dad for all the wonderful gifts you gave me yesterday. I can't wait to gift you guys for your birthday this month, though unfortunately it will have to wait till beginning of next month, but if I'm able to get what I'm hoping to for you guys, you're both gonna LOVE it.

Today so far has been a cool, rainy day. And G woke up feeling quite ill, though he is feeling better now, but is still feeling physically weak. I hate when he's sick. It worries me so, but hopefully by tomorrow he's well and his usual self.

I had planned to go around turning in job applications today, but with G feeling as weak as he does I don't dare leave him alone. Hopefully by the middle of next week I get myself out to do that, that way I have myself out there and maybe/hopefully hear from someone by the time I get back from visiting my family for my Mom's birthday and the Halloween holiday.

Have a great weekend y'all!

Jessica Simpson Shoes

Copito in Tobacco Premier
GORGEOUS! I want!

I've been a fan of Jessica's shoes since '08. I own two pairs of VERY high heels from her collection and they're the most comfortable heels (beside my Calvin Klein pair) that I own.

I've been jonesing for a pair of haute boots for a while and as I know her shoes are high on comfort, these look to be perfection.

To borrow from Rachel Zoe...

I DIE

My brain about fizzled out of my head when I saw the ad for these in the September issue of Allure.
They are so... PERFECT. I would baby these to death. I'd never let anyone touch them!
My God... I hope at some point they can be MINE!

And while visiting with Family in AZ, I found myself watching HSN with my Aunt.
Usually I roll my eyes and leave the room when it comes to buying stuff off tv (if you grew up in my house, you'd understand. lol), but there was so much sparkle and shine coming off the screen and well, I'm a magpie... I just couldn't turn away.

One of the pieces in particular that caught my eye was the "Irina" ring by Lola Rose.

Blue Goldstone

It doesn't look that awesome in the photo, but watching it on TV... ooh it is so sparkly and beautiful! The perfect cocktail ring. I was mesmerized.

New Beginnings

Hello there and welcome to my blog! My name is Gina and this blog will feature fashion, music, films and the journey of decorating my apartment and later my home. It will be my little scrapbook and sounding board for decor/design ideas and just general talk of all the things I love.

As I go through the process of decorating my apartment I hope to feature DIY projects I embark on and tell the story of making my place my home. My partner and I previously lived in Los Angeles, but have relocated closer to my hometown. We live in the guest apartment on our property and will eventually live in the main house. Between the two sits our lovely pool.

I hope you enjoy what I have to say and will follow along. And hopefully I myself won't get too busy and distracted to not keep up with it. Fingers crossed.

xoxo
